Hazardous Materials Transportation Guide

At Dispatch, we are committed to protecting the safety of everyone involved—drivers, customers, and the public, while maintaining compliance with DOT and OSHA regulations. This outlines the types of items Dispatch is equipped and authorized to transport safely.

What is HAZMAT?

Hazardous materials (HAZMAT) are defined as substances or materials that may pose an unreasonable risk to health, safety, property, or the environment during transport, as designated under 49 U.S.C. § 5103 and defined in 49 C.F.R s 171.8.

How do I know if My Delivery is classified as HAZMAT?

Hazardous materials are classified into nine

hazard classes under DOT regulations. Each represented by a diamond-shaped placard that indicates the type of risk the material poses, such as flammability, toxicity, or corrosiveness.

How Much is Too Much?

Hazardous materials exceeding 1,001 lbs (about 17 five-gallon buckets) must be split between two or more vehicles.

If the number appears in the table and is less than 1,001 lbs, it may be placed in a Dispatch vehicle.

What can Dispatch Deliver?

*Other than organic peroxide, Type B, liquid or solid, temperature controlled

**Other than material poisonous by inhalation
