Tracking Your Drivers

In this article, you will learn how Dispatch Connect displays your driver’s location while they are completing delivery routes.

Solution: Give users up-to-date information about driver locations and allows you to troubleshoot any stalled deliveries.

Prerequisites:

  • The driver must have the Dispatch mobile application installed and be logged into the app

  • The driver must have location services enabled for the app on their mobile device

  • A route must be created, assigned to a driver, and the first pickup stop completed

  • The delivery must be within one hour of the designated organization’s delivery hours

Tracking Driver Location

The Dispatch mobile application monitors and reports the location of your drivers as they complete delivery routes. You can see the location of your drivers on the Delivery Dashboard Map.

Driver locations will be updated in real-time. The mobile application monitors when the driver has moved a significant distance. If a driver is stationary, the location will be reported every 5 minutes.

You can click the filter button in the top left of the map to view by vehicle. All vehicles and Sent to Dispatch deliveries will be selected initially. You can unselect them and just select one route, or select Sent to Dispatch. When you click Select All it will bring all the routes back!

Due to the application primarily being on a personal mobile device, we have taken measures to ensure driver privacy. The driver’s location will only be displayed starting from the time they reach the first pickup stop –– which is activated by a swipe on their phones. The location will then stop displaying when the last stop of the route is completed. Location is deactivated when they swipe on their phones to mark the route as complete.

At the end of the day, if the route is not completed within an hour of the designated delivery hours set up, the application stops showing driver locations.
